MANDELA DAY 2019
AT THE CASTLE OF GOOD HOPE

The Castle of Good Hope team, inter alia partnering with NGO Citizens for Change, the City of Cape Town, Provincial Government and the Write Sisters, is staging a world-class event for the most iconic world leader of the 20th and part of the 21st century, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

This event will be held on Thursday 18 July 2019 at the iconic Castle of Good Hope – just 100 metres from the place where he spoke his first words as a free man on Sunday, 11 February 1990. This after wasting 27 years in Apartheid jails.  We are planning the world’s greatest Chef Food Masterclass where 500 fish shall be prepared for a live audience feeding 400 hungry people in the city through the Give Hope Foundation NGO. In true Madiba fashion, the “Write Sisters”, a group of ladies who had some scary moments in the Castle’s water tunnels, will demonstrate how adversity can be turned into greatness (and gratefulness) when the human spirit prevails.  They will give back to the homeless, the ones who helped them through their June 2017 ordeal in the Castle tunnels. Come join us and make this 10th International Mandela Day a day of sacrifice, sharing and real hope for our future.
